AJ is holding one of Montillio's special 4th of July cakes.  Montillios Bakery is located on Adams Street . . . hmmm . . . Adams . . . the bakery is located down the street from the Adams National Historic Site where John Adams, a leader of the independence movement, resided.

Need a new pair of shoes?  AllSaints Spitalfields shoe display uses an awesome collection of shoe lasts as the backdrop for their high-style shoes or "lethal weapons" that I call them.

AllSaints Spitalfields is a fascinating high-end clothing store located on fashionable Newbury Street.  I like the sign, "new arrivals" positioned in front of the old sewing machines in the window.  I will share some more images from this fascinating store in posts to come.

Sew Fantastic

Sewing is not as commonplace in my corner of the world as it once was.  I was delighted to see this display of vintage sewing machines in a trendy upscale clothing store on Newbury Street in Boston.  It reminded me of my mother and her skill and talent as a seamstress.  She took pride in her appearance and was a fashionista of sorts; I never saw her in sloppy sweats, jeans or house dresses.  I don't think she would approve of the "throw-away" fashions of today.   Happy Mothers's Day to all!

Knead A Massage?

Over the last year or so I have noticed a preponderance of massage parlors popping up in the Wollaston Center area.  Either "Wolly" women are well pampered and ache-free or we have market saturation or perhaps something else.  I have had my "spies" looking into this and the interesting thing is that we hardly ever see anyone frequenting many of these massage establishments which leads me to think that there isn't a need for 8 of them.   Wouldn't you think that if there wasn't a customer base then the business would close after a time?

New Look

The first Dunkin Donut shop opened here on the Southern Artery 62 years ago. It recently received some a facelift and added some needed memorabilia. Here is one of my earlier posts on this Quincy landmark. There are now some 5,000 Dunkin Donuts in the U.S. with plans to open 10,000 more by 2020!

Twas The Week Before Christmas

I like to go and support my local bookstore this time every year. Quincy doesn't have a general bookstore and it concerns me that Barnes & Noble is the only remaining bookstore close by.

We're experiencing a Nor'easter which brings some welcomed rain. This is the rooftop of the former Paperama and to be really nostalgic, Raymond's Department Store.

How Much is That Doggie . . .

How much is his waggly tail? This cute puppy is getting some one on one attention at Fin, Fur and Feather, a favorite local pet store.

Got a hankering for Greek-style pizza, salad, gyro or a sub? Nick's, on Granite Street, might fill the bill. I like looking at the murals of Quincy street scenes from yesteryear (enlarge to see) while consuming a gyros or Greek salad.

This "authentic" Irish Pub is located on Billings Road in North Quincy and might be a great place to stop for some Guinness stew if the weather turns raw and rainy. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Meet business owner and operator, Margaret Burke at Burke's Seafood in North Quincy. Margaret, and her husband Richard, have been providing some of the freshest seafood to Quincy and the South Shore for 30 years.

Burke's Seafood, on Billings Road, has both eat-in and takeout seafood. Eat in and enjoy the ambiance of this eatery with original tin ceilings and schoolhouse lights.

Therese Abouzeid is an interior designer and along with her husband, Joe, have owned and operated Hancock Upholstering on Washington Street in Quincy Point for 38 years. Therese came to America from Lebanon as a bride, speaking very little or no English. She raised her family here, pursued an education in interior design and runs a very successful business along with her husband. Therese graciously agreed to let me take her picture for my Quincy workers series . . . doesn't she have a beautiful smile?
