Travel Tuesday: Boston, Massachusetts

You don't see too many dogs at the Museum of Fine Arts.  But I got to see double dogs at the recent Jaime Wyeth retrospective.  The service dog had eyes only for his master.  My dog, Daisy,  turns 5 today!

Travel Tuesday: North Adams, Massachusetts

An intern from Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) took time from installing a new exhibit to talk about Christopher Chiappa's installation.  The design of these stools is based on the Weber grill.  These whimsical works of art may be viewed individually or as one large relief.  Each one has a name like Mr. T, Purple Cream, Perky Peach, Euro Disney and Fried Eggs and may be sat on!

Travel Tuesday: Lincoln, Massachusetts

I like these two photographers having a heart-to-heart at the DeCordova Sculpture Park & Museum.  Her red beret helps to make the picture.

The main court of the Louvre is an amazing place to experience with I.M. Pei's inverted pyramid making a perfect focal point.

Our Navy's Long History

In 1832, Alexander Parris designed this granite block building that now houses the museum for the U.S. Frigate Constitution anchored nearby in the Charlestown Navy Yard. I would hazard a guess that this was built with Quincy granite but I haven't been able to document that.   Parris was an innovator of naval architecture and much of his naval architectural work can be viewed here.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
