Let There Be Light
The first of the month is "theme day" in the City Daily Photo blogging community. "Street lamps" is this months theme and these old-style lamps (with energy efficient bulbs) can be found in Quincy Center as well as in many other areas of the city. Enjoy!

July Theme Day: Facade
I chose this handsome 1929 Art Deco facade of the Granite Trust Building located in Quincy Center for my July "theme day" post. This edifice has always served as a bank and a symbol of prosperous times for this city. Once again it is the beacon of economic hope because the first phase of an ambitious redevelopment project is getting underway right behind it.

June Theme Day: The Beauty of Decay
It's the first of the month in the City Daily Photo community. These antediluvian volumes show their age so beautifully. I'm sure there's more beauty to be found in the words contained within. Please visit other interpretations of today's theme by clicking HERE.

Theme Day: Water's Edge
The first of the month is "Theme Day" in the City Daily Photoblog Community that I belong to. The saltmarsh near Moswetuset Hummock provided the photo opportunity. These boat owners are waiting for the waters' edge to come back and float their boat which was moored out in Quincy Bay before the Superstorm Sandy relocated it. You may view more interpretations of today's theme HERE.

Theme Day: Electricity

It's the first of the month once again in the City Daily Photo blogging community. My "theme day" image is a wind turbine from Quincy's water treatment plant on Deer Island in Boston Harbor. The wind turbines produce enough electricity to defray about $250,000 per year in energy costs. Enjoy checking out other interpretations:

Photo Of The Year 2011

I chose this picture for January Theme Day because it is a picture I was hoping to capture for a very long time. The serendipitous moment happened this past November as I was walking my dog in Black's Creek. I heard geese in the distance making their way toward me and had just enough time to turn and focus my camera toward the sky hoping the geese would appear overhead . . . and they did. Happy New Year and happy photo hunting everyone!

Mystery Object

Today is "Theme Day" around the world in the City Daily Photo Blogging Community. My mystery object is a closeup of a common item found in homes, offices, schools and many other places. Don't get too attached to it . . . give up? Take a look at how others have interpreted today's theme.Click here to view thumbnails for all participants

"Under Construction"

This is my Theme Day entry for June. This road has been under construction for a few years, using federal stimulus money. Quincy's last movie theater was demolished to make way for this road aka the cross connector. I would like to be the owner of those orange striped barrels. They must be making a bucket-load renting them out.

Theme Day

Today is the first of the month and "Theme Day" in the City Daily Photo community. The theme is "your favorite part of town". Blacks Creek is one of my favorite parts of Quincy because this estuary provides a constantly changing landscape to capture and enjoy. Have a great time visiting other CDP bloggers.

Theme Day: Public Transportation

It's November 1st which means it's "theme day" in the City Daily Photoblog Community. This is the Wollaston Train Station, one of Quincy's four stations on the MBTA Red line to Boston and Cambridge. Quincy also offers bus service throughout the community.

October Theme Day: Graffiti

There isn't an abundance of graffiti in Quincy. I spotted this unspectacular graffiti on the remnants of an old pier in the Marina Bay area. That red brick building across the bay is the University of Massachusetts, Boston campus, and to the far right of it is the JFK Presidential Library.

First of the month and it's "theme day" in the City Daily Photo community. This reflection is of the Hancock Park nursing and assisted living facility taken after a shower across the street on a rooftop parking lot.

Theme Day: Funny Signs

Today is "Theme Day" in the City Daily Photo world and this is the funny sign I dug out of my archive. It was posted in front of the "Beachcomber" on Wollaston Beach during the gas price hike of 2008.

Theme Day: Statues

The first of the month is theme day in the City Daily Photo blogging community. Pictured here is a beautiful bronze statue of Quincy's famous First Lady, Abigail Adams, with a guiding hand on the shoulder of son and future president, John Quincy Adams. The sculptor is Lloyd Lillie.

Thursday is "This Old House Day"
Today is also "Theme Day" in the City Daily Photo blogging community. Can you guess that the theme is red? Red is not a very common paint color around here but I did manage to find a few red houses to create this collage. Enjoy visiting other interpretations of today's theme.
