New Skates

This smart dad brought a chair to Sailors' Home Pond to help his kids put their skates on and to save his back in doing so. Sailors' Pond is in the middle of a residential section in Wollaston called Beechwood Knoll, which is close to Wollaston Beach. The frigid temps must be keeping most skaters indoors today.

The city opens the gate to the pond when the ice is safe to skate on. The shovel in the foreground serves as their "Zamboni" to clean the ice.

Learning To Skate

Most of the ponds are frozen over and new skates are being tried out. I have fond memories of skating inside my mom's skates to stay upright. Have you ever ice skated?

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
