This is a Cape Cod style house located off of Adams Street. Reverend Timothy Dwight, a president of Yale, is credited with recognizing these houses as a class and coining the term "Cape Cod" for them. The early ones were symmetrical, with a center chimney, clapboard shingles and shutters to protect the double hung multiple pained windows in howling Northeast storms. Hi, I really like your photos being posted here in your blog. I'm amazed that there are houses as beautiful of this in terms of architecture and the sceneries that lies with it.
This house is practically reeking of Adams Street! You can always tell an Adams Street house, it seems.
And why hasn't brattcat commented on this yet?
