Ready, Set, Go Vote!

This is the winning billboard in Uncle Sam Rounseville's latest public service billboard contest. There were 682 entries in this contest from seven states. One slogan came from Sweden. The winner of the get-out-the-vote message was awarded $1776. Uncle Sam said he hopes the contest helps spur interest in voting . . . so let your vote speak tomorrow . . . get to your polling place early but not often!

The Boston Red Sox have finished their season and the plans to build a mini Fenway Park in Quincy will have to wait until next baseball season as well.

New Slogan

A displaced Quincy resident, now living in Oregon, won 500 John Adams dollars for coming up with the new slogan for Uncle Sam Rounseville's community billboard on the corner of Newport and Beale Streets in the Wollaston section. The winner said that the idea came from a combination of the city's rich history and the granite industry that made it famous. This billboard replaces last months billboard with the ?. Uncle Sam and his wife donated the prize money.

This is a community service billboard on the corner of Newport Avenue and Beale Street sponsored by Uncle Sam Rounseville. The question mark has been there for the past month to promote a contest for a new slogan for this history rich city. The winner receives 500 John Adams dollars donated by Uncle Sam. I'll post the winning slogan once the new billboard appears.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
