Travel Tuesday: St. Andrews, New Brunswick

I caught this simply-made bed at Covenhoven, the once palatial summer home of Sir William VanHorne.  I would assume that the hired help stayed here - just off from the kitchen.  One way to get to Covenhoven is to wait for low tide and drive or walk onto Ministers Island where it is located.

The eddies around Deer Island Point Park can't be missed if you take the ferry to Campobello Island. 

Travel Tuesday: North Rustico, PEI Canada

Located next to Prince Edward Island National Park, and the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, this picturesque fishing village became a town last November.

This picturesque village by-the-sea is located along the southern shore of Prince Edward Island. The sky-blue house in the field of Queen Anne's Lace caught my eye.  Prince Edward Island is a beautiful part of the world!

Thanks For The Memories

I'm fondly saying goodbye to 2013.  Thank you all who visited QDP and especially those who left a comment or two.  "Travel Tuesdays" kept this blog alive when I experienced some lulls in local shooting (and there were many lulls).  The iconic picture of Peggy's Cove reminds me of the magic and majesty of that special corner of the world.

Couldn't ask for a better summer sky as I explored these fish houses at Blue Rock.

Travel Tuesday: Hopewell Rocks, Canada

These 40-70 foot rocks have been sculpted by tidal erosion.  They are located on the shores of the upper reaches of the Bay of Fundy at Hopewell Cape near Moncton, New Brunswick.  The high tide can be as high as 52 feet, giving this area some of the highest tides in the world.

You have to drive across the ocean floor at low tide to get to this fascinating place called Minister's Island.  I used the creative setting on my point-and-shoot camera for this image.

Travel Tuesday: Digby, Nova Scotia

Digby is famous for its scallop fleet and those harvested scallops melt in your mouth.  Digby's waterfront was an interesting place to photograph.  I used a creative setting on my camera to bring out the stormy sky in this image.

Travel Tuesday: Parrsboro, Nova Scotia

The Parrsboro Lighthouse has succumbed to many severe storms over the years.  This version was built in 1980 and automated in 1987.

Travel Tuesday: St. Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada

This is an amazing place.  Remnants of the last glaciation period, about 12,500 years ago, are evident wherever you look.  This boulder (erratic) was once carried by a glacier and dropped here.  Not far from here is the memorial site to Swiss air flight 111 which crashed in the bay on September 2, 1998, and killed all 229 people on board.

Travel Tuesday: Peggys Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada

According to legend, Peggys Cove was named after the only survivor of a schooner that ran aground and sank in 1800... a woman named Margaret. Local folk called her "Peggy" and her home came to be known as Peggys Cove. The original lighthouse was built in 1868.  This is an amazing  place to visit and experience.  (The official spelling is without the apostrophe.)
