Island Farm Remnants

This is all that remains of an early 1800 stone farmhouse on Bumpkin Island.  The rounded stones and beautiful archway conjures images of a building from the Irish countryside.

A Solid Foundation

Many of America's most prominent statues and monuments were sculpted from granite quarried in Quincy. This story is , quite literally, "as old as the hills." Deep in the geologic past, as continents collided, mountains rose up and were folded; under intense pressure, igneous rock was crystallized into granite. The gray stone ledges that eventually emerged in Quincy after millennia of erosion contained some of the highest quality granite in the world, prized for its hardness and durability.

Houses built here before the 1940s have granite blocks and boulders for foundations. These are exceptional examples.
