I had Blacks Creek to myself and my dog during the recent deep freeze.
Waiting out a winter storm today.

Snow Pass
A few weeks ago a heavy machine cut a pass through a behemoth dirt infused snow pile so that people and canines could make their way to the Blacks Creek Estuary. The walls have melted quite a bit since the first cut through. (Quincy Daily Photo will be posting sporadically until some technical issues get resolved.)

The Eagle Has Landed
Yesterday, I was treated to a sighting of an adult bald eagle and two youngsters flying over Blacks Creek and landing in the trees along Furnace Brook Parkway. I was only able to get a record shot with my point and shoot before they took off over Merrymount.
The estuary is partially frozen so I don't think the eagles will be harvesting too many fish here.
I played around with some post processing to bring out the details.
Happy Monochrome Monday! Here's my record shot with two of the eagles catching some air along the tree line. I have been scanning the sky for these magnificent creatures for a few decades. I was thrilled to see my first bald eagle in my home town.

Golden Glow
The checkered-top water tower on Long Island is seen beyond Blacks Creek. The water tower is useful to pilots flying into Logan Airport in Boston. The late afternoon light paints a golden glow to this scene.

Birdy, Birdy in the Sky . . .
Hopefully that QDP "pause" was refreshing and I will have some new images for QDP. I spotted this hawk flying above Blacks Creek; I need some help identifying it. Is it a juvenile Gyrfalcon?
Happy Skywatch Friday!

Days End
A young recreation worker secures the boats as the sun sets on the pristine Blacks Creek lagoon. The William F. Ryan boating and sailing program operates not only during daytime but also in the evening and on weekends. Happy Skywatch Friday!
