This is another colorful rocky outcropping left over from Quincy's quarrying days.

Granite Link

This large metal link was embedded in a granite boulder used decades ago in Quincy's famous granite quarrying business. It is located on the access road to the Granite Links Golf Course. I like the autumn & rust colors here.

Rock Face Mural

This would have made a good post for the recent Graffiti Theme Day. It was taken this past week at the rock climbing park off Riccuitti Drive . . . an unreal place.

Clubhouse View

One of the best views of Boston from Quincy is from the Granite Links Clubhouse. Not far from here is the site of the first commercial railway in the U.S. Some of the near by abandoned quarries are reused for rock climbing.

Quarry climber

I found it fascinating to watch this rock climber puzzle her way up the quarry face near Granite Links Golf Club. It looks like a great sport for mind and body . . . unfortunately, not mine. Quincy was one of the first places in the U.S. where crag climbing was used for mountaineering practice. Today's longest climb is 50 ft. due to the fact that the quarry holes have been filled in with dirt from "The Big Dig" project in nearby Boston.

Rainbow & Fountain

This fountain was created in what looks like a quarry hole. It is a beautiful outdoor feature at the Granite Links Golf Club. The rainbow was a treat; I was almost going to title this Roy G. Biv!
