First occupied around 2000, this mansard style condo building at 100 Marina Drive, is sitting pretty overlooking the Squantum saltmarsh.

New Construction

This condo community, Stone Arches, is one of Quincy's more recent developments. It is located on the edge of the Granite Links Golf Club. I wonder if the stones used for the retaining wall are from the quarries that this community is developed on.

School conversion

The "Quincy School" is one of many schools that was closed and sold in the 1980s due to tax cutting mandates. Many of the schools have been converted into businesses and residences like this one. The school system was decimated and never fully recovered. In the 1990s, the city had to build new schools to ease over-crowding.

I wonder if any teachers live here . . .

High Point

This place used to be a quarry, then a"dump". . . no fooling. The old Quarry Street dump was capped off a few years ago and now has 394 units of housing with more planned. Rents start at $1450 for a 1 bedroom and go to $2250 for a 2-bedroom (no utilities) but a fantastic view of Boston and the Atlantic Ocean from some units.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
