Snow Blossoms 2

Some places south of Quincy are enjoying cherry blossoms while we are enjoying snow blossoms once again!

Frosted Trees

The Norway maples in my yard were lathered with snow this morning.  The coating of white snow is a great contrast that brings out the wonderful texture and green color of the tree bark.  Spring arrives next week!

Snow Tower

Sugar Coating

The first snowfall coated the trees
on Grandview Avenue.  It was real pretty just after sunrise.

Purple Haze

After today's snowfall, the sky took on a watercolor glow of pink, purple and blue.  It was a winter wonderland once again.

Spring Snow

We were treated to an early spring snowfall today with more snow expected tomorrow.

Yin and yang

I captured this from my backyard and manipulated the scene to bring out the lines and contrasts of the Norway maples.

Smokin'

The polar vortex swooped down from the Arctic and rolled out this sea smoke (fog) in Quincy Bay. This early morning shot was captured off Nut Island in Houghs Neck with air temperature around 10 below and water temperature around 40F degrees.

Snow Blossoms

The steeple at Wollaston Congregational Church reaches into the blue sky above the snow blossoms from a recent snowfall.

Pastel Pink

The wet snow from yesterday stuck to vegetation like glue.  Wollaston Congregational Church is the backdrop for this young cherry tree.

Snow Farm

A snow farm was created at Squantum Point Park parking lot to hold tons of snow removed from city streets and sidewalks.  The Atlantic Ocean is on the other side of the mounds of snow.

Snow Dune at Wolly Beach

Squantum Yacht Club could hold a "snow row" in the winter season.  Quincy Bay is not quite frozen over, but if it does freeze over, what about some ice sailing?  It's nice to see some blue sky - Happy Skywatch Friday!

How Much More???

The snow piles keep growing as we dig ourselves out from the third huge snowstorm in two weeks.  James wears an awesome smile after shoveling a path to the street and digging out the hydrant located close-by.  I like his indomitable spirit . . .
