Merci!

We are grateful for our good neighbors from Hydro Quebec, Canada, who helped restore electricity to many in Quincy.  They arrived 5 days ago and will stay until the work is done. This was a storm of mega proportions and especially destructive along Quincy's 26 miles of coastline.  The wind took out many older trees and power lines as was the case here.
Nice view of the Boston skyline from atop the bucket!

Theme Day: Electricity

It's the first of the month once again in the City Daily Photo blogging community. My "theme day" image is a wind turbine from Quincy's water treatment plant on Deer Island in Boston Harbor. The wind turbines produce enough electricity to defray about $250,000 per year in energy costs. Enjoy checking out other interpretations:

Come back to QDP next Thursday for another "old house" photo and thanks for stopping by.

Wind power

This wind turbine can be seen from many vantage points in Quincy and belongs to our neighbors in the town of Hull. The photo was taken aboard the commuter boat that travels from Quincy to Boston.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
