Oh Sweet Christmas Trees!

Ever since 8th grade cooking class at the old Central Junior High, I have been making and sharing these buttery spritz trees, seen here (but not for long) surrounded by a forest of chocolate sugary delights.   Merry Christmas to all who observe this sweet day!

Lighting The Christmastime

My Christmas tree is laden with ornaments that remind me of many wonderful times and good people I have had the pleasure to enjoy.  This lighthouse is a small piece of folk art from my travels in Nova Scotia this past summer.

Have You Been Good?

This Santa is part of a special collection of needlework ornaments made by my parents many years ago. My mother did the detail work and my father filled in the backgrounds. These ornaments never fail to conjure up fond memories of Christmas' past.

Memory Lane

Once called the Enchanted Village of St. Nicholas, the holiday display was originally created in 1958. At that time, Jordan Marsh Company commissioned a Bavarian toy maker to create 28 fully decorated holiday scenes with 250 “magically” animated figures. People from all around New England made the trek to Downtown Crossing in Boston to view the display until Macy's bought Jordan Marsh and auctioned it off. The city of Boston owned it for a short time until funds ran out. Jordan Furniture bought it and have it set up once again.

This angel makes some last minute halo adjustments before taking her place in the Christmas pageant rehearsal at the Wollaston Congregational Church.

A few flakes from the 16" snowfall landed perfectly on one of my door decorations. I love the snow but abhor the ice that is coating my stairs, walkways and driveway; it's treacherous under foot. Orthopedic surgeons must be in overdrive at Quincy Medical Center.

Mail Call for Santa
