Young people ages 9-14 were gathered at North Quincy High School this past Saturday for FIRST's Lego League competition. These young people work together after school, under adult supervision, building an autonomous robot out of legos. In this yearly challenge, they learn a lot, have a lot of fun and get some hands-on experience with engineering, science and technology. Many call it "sporting for the mind." This program is a stepping stone for the high school robotics program. Many members of Quincy's Robotics Team, called HYPER (Helping Youth Pursue Engineering & Robotics) are working the equipment and helping to run this regional meet, which gives them points towards the prestigious "Chairman's Award." This is a global program, so if you ever see it in your area, make sure to check it out. I think you'll enjoy it.

That is such a nice initiative. And fun to watch.I'm surprised that this is reserved to kids. I would have the hardest time building a robot out of legos. A little house with a cute garden, maybe.
It's so similar! The table that they have their competition!
I think they compete locally, and the winner gets to compete with those in other countries.
