The history of fire protection in Quincy began in 1644 when all townspeople were ordered to have a ladder leaning up against their chimneys. The Houghs Neck fire Station that you see here was designed by the Colletti Brothers and built for $148,000 in 1947. Engine-6 is housed here and is a 1985 E-One Hurricane which carries 500 gallons of water and pumps 1500 gallons/minute. The firefighters assigned here respond to all first alarms on the peninsulas of Hough's Neck, Germantown, Adams Shores, and Merrymount. It also responds to all motor vehicle accidents and medicals in Hough's Neck, Adams Shores and Merrymount.

Interesting building. It looks solid and practical in its architecture, which seems about right for a firehouse!
