Thursday is "This Old House Day"

Built in the 1870s, this residence at 284 Adams Street, is one of Quincy's finest examples of "stick style" architecture. Characteristics include angularity, verticality, and asymmetry with a great deal of emphasis on the wall surface as a decorative element. The recent renovation kept the carriage house in harmony with the house. This is one of the most interesting houses in Quincy and has been recommended for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located on the same street as the Adams National Historic site.

What a beautiful home, with so many interesting details. Thanks for educating us on the design - I'd never heard of that before.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
