Thursday is "This Old House" Day

The Beale-Rice at 181 Adams Street, is one of the grandest Federal residences in the city of Quincy. Its historical and architectural integrity merits it to be recommended for listing in the National Register of Historic Places not only for its antiquity and its excellent condition, but also as an fine example of a high style Federal residence of the 1790s which is still sited within its landscaped country setting complete with carriage house.

I plan to continue the Thursday posting of architectural examples from around Quincy, in tribute to the public television show "This Old House."

Hi, I am a Beal descendant. This is my 4x great-grandfather's house! I had no idea it even existed. If you have more photos of this house, I would be greatly interested.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
