This may be the only purple colored house in Quincy! The owner of this Dutch Colonial Revival on the corner of Lincoln and Winthrop Avenue, said that he painted his house purple to pay homage to one of his favorite childhood books: "Mr. Pine's Purple House." This story by Leonard P. Kessler, first published in 1965, it is a story of the triumph of individualism. Has anyone else read this memorable children's story?

It looks pretty in purple. I've not heard of that book. I'll have to see if it's available at the library. Always looking for good books to read with the boys!

I am from Arkansas and while there is a lot of Southern charm here, nothing compares to New England architecture. I have never read the book but will look for it the next time I am at Barnes & Noble.
