Temple Of Knowledge

This is the 1908 addition to one of our city's architectural gems: the Thomas Crane Public Library. This addition, designed by architect William M. Aiken, was added to the to the original H.H. Richardson building, The ell shaped addition created more space and the wall of stained glass “bookplates” at the end of the Aiken wing allowed in more natural light. I love the warm glow of the wood here . . . I never get enough of it.

Fabulous. I surrender myself. No words. The perfect place to travel without walking, to dream without closing your eyes, to fill yourself into the music of golden silence.

Congrats! Keep up this marvellous work, all the best!

What a stunning building. I'm not surprised you never tire of it. Temple of Knowledge is a great title. Just to walk through the doors must give a wondrous sense of the importance of learning, of reading.

And very many congratulations on your award as a Blog of Merit. So well deserved.

The art and craftsmanship in such beautiful woodwork is just amazing to me. If you really think about what it took to create such a beautiful room... wow.

I would spend more time looking at the library itself than the books I'm there to read. Wonderful.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
