The booths, tables, mahogany wall panel, and sconces are all vintage decor at this Brighams in Wollaston Center. The present owner, who was camera shy, has kept this gem polished for 31 years.

A gem indeed. Is it normally empty this time of year or did you go in as the owner opened the door?

Looks beautiful. I always loved Brighams. We don't have them "down" here.

You are certainly making me nostalgic. I remember when there was a Brighams in Davis Square, Porter Square, Harvard Square and Central Square. I used to go to the record store - yes, record store - in Porter Square and get a hot fudge sundae afterwards. Probably for 50 or 75 cents. Good stuff.

That would be probably be Deiter! His parents work there as well, and owned it when he was growing up. He went to elementary school at Wollaston with my mother. He is a bit grumpy, but his mom and dad are really cute.

This really makes me want to live in Boston... seriously. I mean, I re-read the comment before the (...) and it sounded sarcastic, but I'm being truthful.

That's wonderful to see. I grew up in Whitman and my mother was born on Town Hill Road. Yes, my family are Finnish. Do Finns still live on Town Hill Road. I love seeing the photos of places I remember seeing as a child.

We love our Brigham's in Wollaston....where it all started for Brigham ice cream. My grandfather worked in the first shop in downtown Wollaston scooping vanilla. Bravo to the current shop owner -- thank you.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
