Presidents Place

Presidents Place in Quincy Center houses the visitors center for Quincy. People used to line up around this block for the annual "back-to-school sale at a favorite discount salvage store called the Bargain Center or "bahgy."

Do they no longer line up? It sounds like my kind of store.

Brattcat - The "bahgy" closed it's doors due to a lack of shoppers and the building was torn down in the late 1980s. The suburban shopping centers were drawing most of the shoppers away from Quincy, which used to be called "shoppers town." This building is an attractive replacement but not much fun for a bargain hunter like myself.

I remember going there with my parents for school shopping in the late 70s and early 80s.

I'd probably be in that line too if I lived in Quincy!

Interesting...I like the look of the place too.

Thanks for your comments on my New York Daily Vacation blog. I haven't advertised I've started it so its nice that you stumbled across it. We've visited NYC twice now. The first time I took lots of touristy photos, the second I was on the look out for more interesting subjects - plus a few touristy ones!

Very nostalgic about the old "bahgy". I used to just enjoy wandering around the place. Some of the sales people were real characters.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
