Strip Mall 1920s Style

This commercial building at 663-683 Hancock Street on the corner of Beale Street has seen many small businesses come and go since it was built in 1920. The dress shop on the corner was for many years the site of Blackwood Pharmacy. I don't think there are any corner drug stores remaining in Quincy. Are there any in your town?

I'll be traveling south for a few days but the magic of Google will keep a photo a day coming your way. Enjoy!

Travel safely, have fun, take photos and see if you can make an Adams connection. We still have a small, independent drugstore in Brattleboro. It once was on the corner but has since moved.

As a transplant from Weymouth MA to Mechanicsville VA, I enjoy your photos, a nostalgic touch for me.

We have a small independent drug store in 'downtown' M'ville, complete w/luncheon service.

What about Baxter's Pharmacy, Slim? It's not a small pharmacy, but it's technically on a corner.

Either way, we should get into a huge semantic argument over it!

Have fun in your travels.

Why anybody would ever want to leave Quincy is literally beyond me.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
