Close Encounter

Daisy met her first horseshoe crab at Blacks Creek yesterday. She was very curious. Once called "Horsefoot Crabs" because of the resemblance of its shell to a horse hoof, the Horseshoe Crab isn't really a crab. It is related to scorpions, ticks and land spiders.

A friendly dog crab.
Greetings.

My youthful memories of Wollaston beach always included Horse shoe crabs and Jelly Fish. Good to see Daisy enjoying herself.

Great capture - I've not heard of a horseshoe crab before - the dog is having a good cautious look.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
