New Look

The first Dunkin Donut shop opened here on the Southern Artery 62 years ago. It recently received some a facelift and added some needed memorabilia. Here is one of my earlier posts on this Quincy landmark. There are now some 5,000 Dunkin Donuts in the U.S. with plans to open 10,000 more by 2020!
Do you drink coffee with your donuts? What is your favorite kind of donut? I like vanilla coffee and cocunut donuts.

I'll take a glazed donut with a large cup of dark-roast please! Will have to stop in next time I'm on the South Shore.

Weird color scheme in the store: pink and orange. But then, I never really liked Dunkin donuts. I'll take a Starbucks, please.

I remember sitting a counter like that at the Dunkin Donuts that used to be in Holbrook. They brought the coffee in a mug and the donut on a plate. I would go with my Mom.

I used to enjoy a Dunkin Donut (or Duncan Doughnut as we used to call 'em) when travelling in USA and Japan many years ago. But I long since gave then up to try and stay trim! Fascinating post though!

We pass by this DD every month, but never knew this served as the genesis of coffee convenience back in 1950. It's a great looking redesign, and one can only hope it translates to other stores soon. Thanks for the continued local enlightenment!

One of the most surprising things I saw when I was in New England in October was that there was a Dunkin Donuts on almost every corner. We used to have them out here in the west, but they've all closed down and I thought they were just out of business. I guess ours were replaced by Starbucks, even though they don't sell donuts and probably cost a lot more. Funny thing though I never stopped at one while I was there.

In its day, some of the best coffee was served at Dunkin Donuts. I have fond memories of sitting at the counter in Randolph, MA with a cup of coffee and a glazed doughnut.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
