Thursday Is "This Old House Day"

This little white house with the big red chimney was built in 1940, and is located on Grandview Avenue.  This photo was taken as the recent blizzard was winding down.

is there really a "grand view" on grandview avenue?

Yes, Brattcat, thanks for asking. The avenue was well named. It is situated on a drumlin or hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, about one mile to the east, and overlooking Boston, about 10 miles to the north. Some folks have a magnificent view from the upper floors of their mostly Victorian style homes. A few of Boston's well-to-do merchants lived here at the turn of the 19th century and commuted into work on the local railroad.

Love the muted contrasts!

Gosh...looks like a great place to snuggled up inside enjoying a mug of hot chocolate and a good book. Nice capture.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
