Happy Independence Day!

Pictured here are likenesses of John and Abigail Adams inside the gate at their farm that they called "The Old House at Peacefield" or better known today as "The Adams Mansion".

John Adams was one of this country's "Founding Fathers" who drafted and signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776. What you may not know is that John Adams and his fellow founding father and rival, Thomas Jefferson, died on July 4, 1826, on the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson died a few hours before Adams. John Adams was 90 years old when he died. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

One of my favorite biography books is David McCulough's JOHN ADAMS (the 2nd President of the US). The descriptions of events and places in US historical trails before and just after independence were so vivid I could almost feel that I was there myself and involved in every event described. Quincy, if I remember it correctly, is where he comes from. I've been there myself, and reenactment like this was one of the things I like about Quincy and Boston.

Happy 4th of July. Happy Independence day!

John and Abigail look so handsome in their bright colored clothes. I like it and the post today.

I think this is one of the best photographs I have seen today. It is very encouraging and your photography is spot on.

I really admire your selection of what to photograph and your critical eye for composition, lighting and texture.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
