Storm Front

As the storm front approached I was treated to a cloud phenomena known as iridescent clouds. By the time I ran to get my camera, most of the colors had disappeared, but you can see a hint of pink color on the top of the white cloud layer.

You know I saw that cloud the other day heading into Braintree. It was rather interesting. It's a shame you weren't able to capture it when it was in full bloom with all of those colors (I was in the car wishing I had my camera with me).

One thing I would like to say however is that I disagree with it being an iridescent cloud. It looked more like a Polar Stratospheric Cloud (nacreous cloud) than an iridescent cloud.

I'm so glad that I was able to capture and share this with you. Thanks for taking time to comment.
Marie- I did run fast.
Blognote- I had a hard time taking my eyes off it to go get my camera. I was truly awed by what I was seeing. I knew it was special.
New England 6x6 - thanks for questioning the cloud type. When I was doing my cloud research, I dismissed it as a nacreous type. The word "Polar" had me thinking that it would be extremely rare to see that kind of cloud around here, but you may be right. I sent a query to Kevin Lemanowicz, chief meteorologist at Fox 25. I'll post any information I get back from him.

Beautiful!

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
