Best Vanilla Bean In Town

Brigham's vanilla is the #1 selling ice cream in the Boston area; it is also my favorite vanilla brand. America is the ice cream capital of the world, producing over 1.5 billion gallons of ice cream per year. Annually, each American consumes around 22 quarts of the creamy, frozen mixture. More ice cream is sold on Sunday than any other day of the week . . . hence today's post.

Do you enjoy ice cream and if so, what is your flavor of choice?

I like ice cream sometimes. My favorite is cherry with chunks of cherries or strawberry with chuncks of strawberries. I have also had Pear Ice Cream at a restaurant I worked at in the early 1990's. I cant find it any more.

Blue Bell Ice Cream is the best in my opinion. It is made in Brenham Texas and is only available in Texas and parts of Louisiana. My favorite flavor is probably their Homemade Vanilla.

The best ice cream I've ever had was hazelnut, but I can't find it in stores. So I usually like some kind of ice cream with chocolate in it....the specific type depends on my mood.

Oh, and Blue Bell Ice Cream is available in Arizona too.

I've always loved chocolate ice cream best, but Brigham's Vanilla is delicious.

BTW, I was just reading about the White House and Pres. Bush used to have the staff stock his refrigerator with Blue Bell ice cream. It must be pretty good, else he never tried Brighams Vanilla:)

My favorite ice cream? Pistachio on a sugar cone! I have not found a good pistachio ice cream in many years though. I wonder if I am remembering Brigham's pistachio as the best.... and the standard by which I judge all ice cream. The memory of sitting in the mahogany booth as a child with my family enjoying a hot fudge sundae will never be forgotten.

There was a home-made ice cream stand on a dairy farm near Littleton, MA that had excellent ice cream in the 1970's when I lived in Acton. Does anyone know the name of it and if it is still there? People would drive there on Sundays from miles around and stand in long lines for it. I especially remember the butter pecan at that place...and maybe that's where I got the good pistachio. Today's pistachio ice creams do not taste the same as I remember in years past.

I was told that Alaska has the largest ice cream consumption in the nation, per capita. That is just plain weird. (Alaska also has the highest rate of alcoholism, spousal abuse, sexual assault, and ownership of large fuzzy dogs that respond to "mush")

My Mom has passed away but I will always remember the smile on her face when I'd walk in the house with that Brighams bag with an ice cream sundae for her. Thanks for these posts and the memories!

mmm...ice cream *drools a little* I would have to say my favorite is anything from Ginger's Wagonwheel in Russel City, PA. (Don't let the name fool you, it is NOT a city! lol) Pretty sure all the ice cream they serve there is Perry's but it just tastes so different than just eating it from a tub at home. probably because of the whole trip/experience that comes along with it.

Decisions. Most flavours, but really the Ice creams in the South of France for the whole variety you get.
Had coconut and lime today. Zinging.

Mmm Ice cream- I am not surprised to hear that America is the ice cream capital. I remember back in school and exchange student always laughed at us whenever we suggested going to grab some ice cream because it was every day! :) My favorite would have to be Death By Chocolate and Bunny Tracks- can't recall the brand, but the first is DECADENT and the other has yummy peanut butter/chocolate chunks, which is always lovely. I have tried Blue Bell before- it's available in most western states, I believe.

I love Breyer's Vanilla... the flecks of real vanilla bean just seal the deal for me. Add to it some macerated strawberries, and I'm in heaven!!

Brigham's is the best, but my favourite ice cream has always been Baskin & Robbins Chocolate Peanut Butter. (We didn't have Brighams where I grew up.) I like Brighams Dice Kream or Karamel Sutra. YUM!

I love Cookies and Cream. Delicious. If I'm ever in the Boston area, I'll have to check that ice cream out! Sounds delish.

Brighams' vanilla and' "The Big Dig" (if they still make it) Best ice cream ever except for grape nut ice cream which they used to sell at The Fruit Center in East Milton Square.

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
