Pussy Willows

The fine grey fur, called catkins, of this small willow is a sure harbinger of spring and brings to mind Gordon Lightfoot's classic song that begins:
"Pussywillows cat-tails soft winds and roses
Rainpools in the woodland water to my knees
Shivering quivering the warm breath of spring"

Focusing that close, those pussy willows take on an almost sci-fi aspect. And then you ground us again with a Gordy Lightfoot quote. Well done.

Need to see it again when it blooms. Georgis girl here does not know what a Pussy Willow looks like. ;)

It must definitely be spring when the Pussy Willows are beginning to bloom!

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
