The house and attached barn at 240 South Central Avenue are a refreshingly rural sight in highly suburbanized Wollaston Hill. The two structures were probably built by James D. Kent, an insurance agent, who may have operated his business out of the house. It was built around 1900. I like the way the present owners have painted it.

This is one beautiful house. I looked at it when it was last available, it was painted white then. I agree with you that the present owners have worked many wonderful improvements.
Such wonderful details. I wonder how much of the original interior remains.
This house was once featured on an "open house" fundraiser for our city library and my recollection is that many of the period details like casements, moldings, staircase work, flooring, and fireplace details were all in beautiful shape. The owners took the attached barn and made a gorgeous family room. I also remember that some letters written by the original owners were found inside a wall. Old houses are so interesting . . .
I like the H sign on the barn!
and the different colors bring out the details.
