Hi, Brattcat here again. Kipling wanted his house in Vermont designed like a boat, and it really does look like one. You can, indeed, stay there. The Landmark Trust rents it out. Inside it is pretty close to the way it was when Kipling left it. His books are on the shelves in his study, his desk is still there...it's pretty amazing.
Years ago this house had a lovely covered porch in front. It gave the house a more inviting, less stark look. I miss that porch.
