Hard to believe these still exist. These were used for the beat Cop to call the station. In this day of cell phones I am surprised this has survived. I wonder if it is still in use.
That's right, it's an old call box. I know the city took all of these - along with those fire alarm boxes - out of service - I'm surprised to see it still out in front of City Hall. I'd guess historical reasons, but then why would they have painted it?
Thanks, Fr. Peter for identifying it. I'll have to ask around to find out why it's still outside City Hall. We have a new police sub-station about a block away. Ali- I'll have to stop by and ask about it. -Slim
