Finials and Posts

The Adams historic homes open today for the season. Many tourists and local folks will pass underneath these finials to get a closer look at the summer White House of John and John Quincy Adams at 135 Adams Street.

This is also my contribution to Aileni's Monochrome Monday. Click here to see more black and white images from photo enthusiasts around the world.

Very nice photo, looks impressive in black and white. I wish I had seen that home when I lived in the Boston area nearly forty years ago.

I love the finial and I love the shadows which echo the original. John and John ... is that what you meant to type? Father and son ... surely not partners?

Beautiful detail when enlarged - so much to see. My first impression was of the shapes of the wall and strong shadows, a great pattern.

I, too, love what the shadows add to this image.

A great shot for monochrome.

An excellent b&w indeed!!
The shadows give it the right depth.

Summer Attraction

This tiger swallowtail butterfly was a delight to see pollinating the phlox bed along my driveway.
